Don't miss it...get to the bridge in Chabagon (town across the road) by 7am for the Palm Sunday parade, so we get there at 7 and are the only ones there :). Then the kids start coming around 7:30am -it's definitely closer to Western time here but sometimes I'm still reminded of African time.
For Palm Sunday the Sunday school kids all decorated palm branches with flowers to parade through Chabagon singing a Hallelujah chorus. It was very cute and pretty special! Everything includes banners, so here was the banner at the front of the parade. Boys on one side of the road, girls on the other. (The man on the left is one of my students).
This is our office assistant Ashim's daughter Aditi and his father (one of the nurses at the hospital). I think she's one of the cutest kids here!
For Good Friday morning I was invited to one of the mission homes for an amazing brunch. At 1pm the town church had a service emphasizing the 7 sayings of Christ on the cross. In the evening we had bideshi (white people, aka missionary) church on the compound.
Easter Sunday included a sunrise service, treats at church followed by a Sunday school program. It was so interesting to see how the culture is so conservative yet had tamborines, cultural dancing, and women acting in the drama.
After the Sunday school program we had a feast at the church dinning hall of Bengali food - rice, egg, dahl (lentils), and vegetables with curry sauce. In the evening the missionaries celebrated with a potluck and service. What a special time!
This was a display set up in front of the hospital saying the tomb is empty - we serve a living God!

আশা করি ভালো আছেন। আসলে আমার বিষয়ে খুব বেশি কিছু বলার মতো নেই। তবুও যতটুকু সম্ভব বলার চেষ্টা করছি। আমি জন্মসূত্রে একজন মুসলিম।
তো আমি পড়ার জন্য মোবাইল এ বাংলা কোরআন ডাউনলোড করি। এবং পড়া শুরু করি। পড়তে পড়তে এক সময় দেখি যে, হযরত ঈশা সম্পর্কে অনেক আয়াত আসেছে কোরআনে, এবং সেখানে স্পষ্ট লেখা আছে তার জন্ম সম্পর্কে, এবং সে যে সত্যি, মানুষের মুক্তির পথ এ বিষয়ে।
অতঃপর
আমি বাংলা বাইবেল ডাউনলোড করি এবং পড়ি। কিন্তু আমার জ্ঞান সীমিত হওয়ায় আমি কিছু বুঝি, আর কিছু বুঝি না। তবে এতটুকু বুঝতে পেরেছি যে, হযরত ঈশা কে অনুস্মরণ করার ইঙ্গিত কোরআনেও আছে। এজন্য আমি তাঁর অনুসারি হতে চাই।
তারপর আমি এ বিষয়টা নিয়ে ইন্টারনেটে খোঁজাখুঁজি করি, এবং দেখি যে এমন কিছু সংগঠন আছে যারা মানুষকে প্রভুর পথে আসতে সাহায্য করে, প্রভুর প্রচার করে, সমাজ সেবা মূলক কাজ করে। এ বিষয়টি আমার খুব ভালো লাগে, এবং আমি মনে মনে সংকল্প করি আমি তাদের একজন হবো। কিন্তু এই পথে আমি একা, আমার পরিবারের আর কেউ নেই। এবং আমার পরিচিত কোন লোকও নেই যে আমাকে এবিষয়ে সাহায্য করবে।
আর যখন আমি এ বিষয়টা আমার পরিবারের লোকদের বলি, তখন তারা আমাকে প্রথমে ঠাট্টা বিদ্রুপ করে, এবং পরে যখন দেখে যে আমি এ বিষয়ে অটল, তখন তারা আমাকে ঘর থেকে বের হয়ে যেতে বলে।
এবং আস্তে আস্তে আমার আসে পাসের লোকেরা বিষয় টি কিছুটা বোঝে, আর তাতে সমস্যা আরো বেড়ে যায়। কিন্তু কোথায় গেলে আমি জ্ঞান অর্জন করতে পারবো তা আমি জানি না। আর আমার যাওয়ার কোন জায়গা ও নাই।
আর বড় সমস্যা হচ্ছে আমি একজন দরিদ্র মানুষ, আমি একটা দোকানে চাকরি করি যেখান থেকে আমি ৫০০০৳ টাকা বেতন পাই, যা দিয়ে কোনভাবে জীবন জাপন করি। এজন্য আমি কোথাও গিয়ে থাকা খাওয়ার খরচ বহন করতে সক্ষম নই। এজন্য আমি এখন খুবই সংকট পূর্ণ অবস্থার মধ্যে অবস্থান করছি।
এখন মিশনারি হওয়ার জন্য ট্রেনিং প্রয়োজন। এজন্য আমি কি আপনাদের কাছথেকে কোন সাহায্য পেতে পারে?
